Slow down and escape to Lewes

The Happy Place at Sunset is a playful, nine-room inn situated alongside the Love Creek Marina where Love Creek opens into the Rehoboth Bay.

Set inside a restored 1960s fisherman’s motel, it brings together retro coastal character, thoughtful design, and outdoor spaces made for slowing down—where neighbors cross paths with travelers, and everyone feels like they belong.

Spend the day exploring historic Lewes, relaxing at the beach, or strolling to Love Creek and the marina. Or don’t make any plans at all—pour another cup of coffee, settle into an Adirondack chair, and lose track of time.

  • The Happy Place at Sunset has nine individually designed rooms and suites. The collection includes rooms for solo travelers, couples, friends, and families.

  • They sure are. Each room has its own color palette, artwork, and personality inspired by a favorite piece of Rehoboth and boardwalk nostalgia. You can pick the room that feels most like you, or make it your mission to stay in every one.

  • Rooms include a compact refrigerator and microwave for snacks, leftovers, and the occasional late-night boardwalk haul. They do not include full kitchens.

  • Yes. Each room features our custom Happy Place at Sunset coffee blend, created with Swell Joe Coffee. 

  • Kayaks and paddleboards are planned as part of the guest experience. Availability may depend on the season, weather, and final operating details.

  • The inn faces Rehoboth Bay on Sunset Lane. Atlantic Ocean beaches, Cape Henlopen State Park, downtown Lewes, and the Rehoboth boardwalk are all within a 15-minute drive.

  • Yes! The inn is designed for group stays, including friend weekends, family reunions, bridal parties, birthdays, and other celebrations. The detached cottage may also be booked alongside the inn, depending on availability.

  • With all of the renovations, we’ve taken care to make sustainable choices in our designs throughout the property, including solar panels, low-flow fixtures, and responsible material choices. We are also pursuing Green Key certification.
